Brow Lift Korea: Eyebrow Surgery

The Korean brow lift procedure is more in demand with the older generation. As people get older, skin and soft tissues lose elasticity. That causes sagging of the skin and the distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes also shortens. This results in the appearance of wrinkles on the face, making you look tired, angry, sad or older.

What is Brow lift?

Brow lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure also known as a forehead lift. The procedure cosmetically removes creases in the forehead skin or reduce wrinkles, hooded upper eyelids, improves frown lines and corrects sagging eyebrows by placing the eyebrows in a youthful position.

During a forehead lift, the surgeon carefully removes tissues and remove part of muscles and skin that cause wrinkles or deep frown lines.

Methods use in Brow lift

  • Coronal Lift
  • Endoscopic Lift
  • The Coronal lift, also known as “classic lift”, is done by one uninterrupted incision from ear to ear over the top of the head.
  • The endoscopic lift, a less invasive method, is done by having the surgeon put shorter incisions in the scalp. The surgeon then inserts a thin tube attached to a camera into one of the incisions to view the tissues and muscles. In this procedure, the tissue will be attached either with a temporary or permanent stitch or attached under the scalp. These anchors keep the tissue under control for years. In this treatment process, the patient will experience minimal scarring and shortened recovery time.

What to Expect After a Brow Lift Surgery?

The duration of recovery depends on the method used by the surgeon for brow lift surgery.

Generally, patients will have stitches, staples or fixation screws. These fixtures are installed to keep the elevated brow in place beneath the hairline. These will be removed in about a week or two.

Patients may also feel some numbness or tingling. This will become better over time. Patients who have the classic procedure may have more numbness compared to endoscopic lift.

Brow Lift patients may probably have swelling and bruising on their face including the cheeks and eyes. Generally, the swelling should be gone in a week or two. The surgeon may suggest to keep the head elevated to help lessen the swelling, and ice packs can be gently applied to the affected area.

Patients with classic lift, experience more pain during the recovery than the endoscopic method. Itching may also be experienced by some patients which will go away in one month.

Consulting a surgeon for some expert advice is recommended.

Risks of Brow Lift:

A brow lift can result in some risks, including:

  1. Scars. Scarring from the incisions might be visible after a brow lift.
  1. Numbness. A brow lift can cause temporary or permanent numbness on the forehead or top of the scalp.
  1. Hair loss. A brow lift can cause an elevated hairline or hair loss at the incision site.
  1. Asymmetry in the position of the brows. A brow lift can result in asymmetry, with one or both the eyebrows appearing too high. However, this may even out during the healing process.

Like any other type of invasive surgery, a brow lift poses a risk of bleeding, infection and an allergic reaction to anesthesia.

Thorough research and proper consultation is a crucial step for every individual before deciding to undergo Brow Lift Surgery.
